I will say though that even in any market, there are sub-markets that you may either want to be in or want to stay away from.

When you first go to the gym, you may not have the figure you want, but staying with it over a period of time will get you the return you are looking for. 

If you prefer to stay local and build equity, house hacking a duplex or triplex in Fort Lauderdale could work, especially if you can add an STR component to boost income.
