The only downside is that you'll need an account, and they lock you into a contract.

It's really the deal you make with the seller to lock them up but buy them over a period of time 

If you have sometime locked in below a 4% mortgage, then maybe it makes sense to hold it.

Smart locks and security cameras (outdoor only) add an extra layer of control.

I did lock in a decent rate, so that is in my favor.

The amendment could exacerbate the “lock-in” effect, where current homeowners are disincentivized from selling their homes and purchasing new ones.
