Where I live in SC you HAVE to have local knowledge to make things work.

@Mario Morales, to echo Bradley, I would say this depends on what you are lacking in your own knowledge base.To some (probably many investors) the agent is simply an initial filter for them.  

A knowledgeable real estate agent and property manager with local market expertise can help you navigate neighborhood dynamics, connect you with contractors, and even identify off-market deals that fit your strategy.

A lot of the basis of my position on this can be described as “gut feel”.  

Determined to succeed, I spent countless hours in the library, absorbing knowledge from the industry’s greatest minds.
