This allows you to run the heat pump for cooling and/or heating in milder weather (where a good heat pump will have a COPS of 3+) and run the gas to do the heavy lifting in the colder months.That said, regardless of how much you pay for heat, keeping more of it inside the building envelope for longer will save you the most long-term.

It's not just water cost,, it's hot water so gas to heat it and either gas or electric also for the dryer use.I would contact them and state that the appliances included with the rental were the only ones intended for use.. that they have installed the washer / dryer ( is it vented properly??)
