I took up being an agent as my side hustle that slowly became my full gig but before that I didn't need a side hustle as overtime was readily available to me as a nurse. 

Because this cathedral of knowledge gives full unfettered access to all these mentors and the learnings for next to nothing. 100% of the problem is in HOW people engage in being mentored. 

Also we both have full time W2 jobs.

How come he isn't paying the full amount?
