Claudia,  I am in the Pocono area and simply want to advise you ,There have been lots of problems with STR in the area and due to thatmany  of the townships in Monroe and Carbon and Pike counties  are writing and enforcing  STR zoning regulations.

The big killer would be the HOA/condo board fees--you'd have to vet the condo board hard to make sure that not only the fees were reasonable but they don't have a delayed maintenance monster coming down the pike

I second the suggestion to look in Montgomery for your investments, though for where to actually live for the schools I would say either Auburn, or Pike Road (which is part of Montgomery County).
