We had a couple companies come in and give wild quotes to rework our system, then found a guy who showed up with schematics and trade journal articles on our particular system, spent 2 hours educating us on it, then cost about $500 to go around and fix all the crappy work previous "contractors" did to the system to try "fixing" it. 

I will tell you he did a great job because very little interior re-work was required - but it was a substantial hit to the Reno budget!

The affordablity metric of Canadian RE works as follow: the closer your are to centres like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, the more expensive the property will be and t gets pricier, in the eye of those epicentres. 

Lastly, make sure to rework your numbers on the conservative side.

I’m proposing a radical reworking of how houses get bought and sold in the United States, and asking agents to comment on what would be major changes in how they work, who would compensate them, how, and how much.
