Hi all, I am multifamily investor from Toronto, Canada looking to purchase apartment buildings in Memphis, TN. I am looking to connect with brokers, lenders and property managers with experience in buildings 50-150 units.  Currently doing market research to narrow down specific B-C class neighbourhoods.

Can anyone recommend a lender/bank/credit union that deals specifically with these types of assets?

Thanks @Alex Deacon and @Stephen Daniele

I have contacted S&T bank, who would like to assess the property once stabilized to determine if they can do the refinance. I know many investors in the area had success with them so I am hoping it works out. I am about 2-3 weeks away from completing the rehab

I think it depends, are these properties in your local area? Out of state? Properties in your neighbourhood would be much easier to tend to as you can be on the ground whenever something comes up. I used to try to manage properties that were 2-3 hours away from me on my own. Now I use property management and am pretty much hands off. Either way if you have properties in a number of areas you might be "managing" multiple property managers. This is part of the reason I am shifting to multifamily where I can have a single Property manager and all tenants under one roof.

Hey @Melissa Nevich, just wondering if you ended up finding a reliable property manager and how it has been going for the past year?

Kind of late to party but came across this post. My RE goals for 2018 are:

- Purchase  2 multifamily apartments in US (focusing on Cincinnati to start, B/C class,10-20 units)
- Fix and flip in PA (in progress)
- Build out a website for my business and expand my real estate network

@Roy N. Thanks very much for your reply. Yes I have had similar responses from speaking with accountants here in Toronto. It's just a matter of getting this all set up as tax season is approaching. I will reach out to George Dube as well

Thanks!

Hi Everyone, I am looking for accountants, lawyers and tax specialist to assist with cross border investing. I am a Canadian citizen and I have purchased properties in the US through a LLC. I wanted to know if anyone would have recommendations for accountants they have used that can assist with entity structure and tax considerations.

I have been told that I may need to have a Canadian corporation own the LLC in order to avoid double taxation.

Any advice/referrals would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
