I am curious how you worked this one out? Was this a situation where you needed to walk away from the deal or were you able to get money left in escrow?

Small multi-family (2-4 units) buy & hold investment in Iowa City.

Purchase price: $170,500

Duplex
2 bedrooms 1 bathroom per unit
Unrented Garage
Big back yard and deck off upper unit

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

Being able to House Hack it!

How did you find this deal and how did you negotiate it?

How did you finance this deal?

Conventional Loan through Credit Union

How did you add value to the deal?

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

Worked with a realtor from Remax, whom I would not recommend.

has anyone structured a deal with seller financing in which you take over the mortgage for the seller? 
How does the seller benefit or recoup any of the equity they’ve already put into the house?
