@Alshan San Bought my first "house hack" last year and it was the best thing I did. The tenant essentially pays the mortgage and it has enabled me to increase my savings rate substantially... Please feel free to ask any questions, I am no expert but ill do my best to help.

Hello, So I am a long time lurker, first time poster. After about 3 years of learning I finally saved enough to jump in and buy my first house hack in Hamilton Ontario. I close today (Sept 26th) and was hoping to have someone rent the basement for Oct 15th. Just looking for some advice on how you experienced investors screen your tenants? It is especially important because I will be living above them. Thanks so much in advance!

Neil Da Silva I am currently looking at Hamilton. Would love to hear your take on that market. We are looking there because it is still commutable to the city and McMaster is there for when we want to get into student rentals. Thanks
