My dad owns 40+ properties but he is very very narrow minded. Because he had a full time job as an operator his whole life and made real estate his side thing, he does not think I can make any money if I try and make real estate my full time career. (no pension, no insurance, no benefits blah blah blah) It has come to the point where he just keeps getting angry and tells me I need to find a job and real estate won't cut it. I am passionate about real estate and it is what I want to do, but he is so old fashioned and stuck in his ways that he won't help me or doesn't think I can do it and actually make money.

Hello all! I am completely new to BiggerPockets and quite new to real estate in general. I have a background in finance and economics. My dad owns some single family homes in our area so I have been around the real estate industry my whole life because of him. Ever since I was a young kid I wanted to pursue real estate because it has always intrigued me, but I never did. I finally quit my job about a month ago and plan on finally pursing it. Without having a job, having saved about 30-40k, and being quite inexperienced; What are some recommendations for beginning given my situation? Best ways to start? Best way to get a loan? Any advice? Anything helps and I appreciate it in advanced!

Zack.
