@Cory King, thank you for your thoughtful reply! I would love to receive referrals for loan officers here in Knoxville. I am new to the game and using the FHA loan has just seemed to be the most common way to house hack (at least in terms of what the resources I have read have said). What other loans might you suggest for House hacking?

Thank you in advance for your prompt reply!

Sincerely,

Thank Obed!

Great info! I currently live in Tennessee and I have a possible opportunity to in move to the state of New York for a two-year work-related contract come the summertime. I want to know whether it would work legally for me to buy a home and occupy it for 6 months and then relocate for the maximum time of two years and then return to the property a my primary residence.

Upon my research of the FHA loan and the house hacking strategy, I know one of the perquisites for getting approved and not committing fraud is to live in the residence for at least a year. However, I have found trails of information on the internet and FHA-type websites indicating if you relocate due to work, that you are not bound by the 1-year rule once you begin at your new place of employment. I would love to have some clarity and steering in the right direction as to the best source for FHA loan information and caveats, as well as any tips for a 22-year-old single investor planning on house hacking for my first real estate investment. Thank you in advance to the Bigger Pockets Community.

Sincerely,
