When we divorced in 2000 I told her to keep it and I bought another. I should have bought her out of 1/2 the equity. It would rent easy right now for 1200.00 a month. She sold it six months after I moved.  My advice is to buy one you can pay on for a while , rent it And buy another. That way you will always be buying a primary residence. I have two other rental properties but I really wish I had that first one.

Hi Scott, I think this is very good advice. I imagine it will be much easier to obtain financing with this method.

Again welcome,

Thank you! I hope to be a full time investor/landlord, taking advantage of any opportunity I come across in the market.

Hi! I am a new member from Columbia, South Carolina. I am 23 years old and am closing on my first property next week. This property will be my primary residence for the time being, but I believe it will be very easy to rent in the future.

Currently I am learning all I can about REI and hope to begin investing in properties other than my primary residence in the next 1-2 years. Currently I am leaning towards buying fixer upers and turning them in to rental properties but I am still trying to learn about REI from all angles! My long term goal is to be a full time REI professional.
