It depends on the lender you are going with. Some will cover the appraisal and lawyer cost for new customers others won't. 

I'm trying to use the ScotiaBank Step Mortgage and since I'm already an existing customer they won't cover expenses.

I am about to complete a small reno project, removing some framing and flooring.

They will pick up the carpets but not the wood (with nails). I don't own a truck. 

Just curious to know what some of you do when completing small reno jobs.
