Mr_Investor. I agree. There is always some sort of pitch or plug. The key is finding the right mix of advertising and "tips"

DemosL: I've used Constant Contact before and I recommend it to all my clients. The reporting features really are awesome!

That's great that you "give back" by writing about the community as well.

Thanks for your feedback!

I know when I sort through the mail, unless I recognize the business (or they blow me away with a great design), I won't read it.

Thus, I agree that it's always best to use opt-in lists than buying.

Another alternative (although less personal), is to include your postcard in a mail-drop or inside your local newspaper. Since this is less personal, make your advertising less like advertising, by including tips or articles of interest to buyers/sellers.

I'm doing some research about trends in real estate publishing.

I'm curious to know:

- If you have a regular e-newsletter
- How often you release it
- Type of content (ie: articles, listings, community news..etc).

Thanks all!

Can anyone give me an idea of how much the average Realtor makes in commission for a property?

(I know it depends on how much the property sells for... but can you guys give me an approximate % of sale price or dollar value?)

Thanks Jon & Mr_Investor. I've been on biggerpockets for less than 24 hours and I'm loving it.

I was so excited I even posted an article already!

I'm a freelance Jane-of-all-Trades from Vancouver, Canada.

Bigger Pockets was recommended to me by a friend on Twitter. I'm looking forward to exploring the site further in the coming days.
