We will be joined by David Larson, broker of DL Realty. David has sold real estate across the country including shopping centers and apartments and has been instrumental in the development and sale of student housing in Reno. David entered the real estate brokerage business by first being a long-term buy and hold real estate investor himself learning the keys to profit and avoiding the pitfalls along the way.

He is currently working on a continuing education class that is all geared towards educating agents on how to buy and manage long-term rental properties. This week at the meetup we will get a sneak peek on some of those lessons and learn from David about the keys to building a successful residential rental portfolio.

Series 3 of 4 Part Series on Rentals for AGENTS ONLY!

We'll be joined by Cameron Meals of Blue Sierra Realty. He and his team operate a full service brokerage that specializes in mid-term property rental management.

What exactly are mid-term rentals you might ask? This niche strategy focuses on renting furnished properties to tenants that have temporary housing needs. This model differs from short-term rental in that most of the guests stay for 30 days or more. To succeed in this model, you need to attract different types of tenants such as insurance companies, corporate leases with contractors, traveling nurses and a myriad of other speciality tenants.

This can be a phenomenal rental strategy because it requires substantially less involvement with the occupants than a short-term model but can produce substantially higher rents than a conventional long-term, unfurnished model.

If you're interested in learning how you can manage a mid-term rental yourself or want to provide more value to your clients by knowing a thing or two about what goes into a successful mid-term rental, you won't want to miss this one!

For our last ground up here in Reno we used a great local structural architect - Gabbart and Woods. Had I not had a long-term relationship with one of the principals, I think we would have had to wait 8 months to start our structural too.
