Thank you all so much for contributing to this discussion. This has been very helpful and delightful to read.

@Alec Sithong, what about in Florida are your contacts located? I would love to reach out to them and possibly talk some numbers and run some ideas by them.

@Jim C. and @Manolo D.: You guys are awesome. Thank you again for taking the time to sharing your knowledge and opinions with us.

@Manolo D., thank you for the contribution to the post. I was actually seeking the type of advice you just posted. Now I just need you to clone yourself and move it to Florida. Haha.

Maggie Jones , I would assume that being in the L.A. market is the reason why your price has been driven up so high. The cost of living in Southwest Florida is no where near the cost of living in California. For example, I just bought a 2077 sq/ft pool house in Lehigh Acres, FL last March for $136,000. I hope you manage to find a contractor to complete your addition at a reasonable price; but be weary about the quality of their work. Best of luck Maggie.

Jim Carson , that would be great! The main thing I did want was maximum natural light. When do you think you will be in the Lee County area. I'm in Dubai right now but I will be back that way very soon. Have to make arrangements to link up with you.

Jim Carson , I would also love to hear about it once everything is completed with your construction. Especially since it's so close to my area. What size lot did you end up purchasing? Did you pick it up from the MLS?

I have already found a potential builder Troy Norwood he has a custom 1980sq/ft floor plan. What I'm debating on at this point is whether or not to add a pool to the design seeing that the bulk of the homes in the area where I'm contemplating on buildings has pools. I'd like to continue speaking with you outside of this discussions and listen to some of your ideas. If everything pans out well and the numbers make sense, maybe we could tackle a deal together.

Troy Norwood , I'm actually interested in building for investment purposes. It's getting too competitive and too expensive to pick up older homes to flip. As with yourself, I am also intrigued with going down the avenue for New Constructions. I'm still debating on whether I want to proceed forward with Lehigh or Cape Coral. Yes, the lots are much more expensive in Cape Coral, although, you can sell your end product for a lot more.

@Jim Adrian, thank you so much for the breakdown of the timeline. @Marc W., thank you for the estimate of the pricing. I did not realize that the timing would be that long. With the way property values are jumping, it's starting to make more sense to just build new, rather than renovating and flipping. Even though building new seems to be more profitable, I could flip 3 houses in the amount of time to build one house.

If you guys were in my shoes, what course of action would you take?
