Hi Ryan,

My name is Wes. How do you feel about exchanging ideas and notes with someone else living in Euless? I am also looking to get started investing in the DFW area. I have spent the last 3 months learning on my own and I plan to start investing in 2016. I would enjoy having a local learning partner. Interested?

Post: Computer/Operating system recommendations please.

I noticed you posted 21 days ago. Did you find a computer? If not, I would just wait until the sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I would get a laptop with at least 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive. I would go with the OS that you are familiar with. I believe Windows laptops start around $300 and Apple laptops start around $600. Buy from someone who will give you good support when something breaks. I have had bad experiences with support from Best Buy. Be sure to get an external USB hard drive (1TB or larger) to backup your computer or use a cloud backup service.

I just joined BP and I have a question about getting single family home comps in Texas. My understanding is that he "sold" price for houses are not available to the public. Does that mean the easiest source of comps are the tax assessor records and currently active MLS listings?
