HI Julie- my 30 year old niece lives in Hamden (for the last 2? years) with her boyfriend and dog and just adores it- very interesting mix of hipster and old baltimore "hon" style. there are a ton of foreclosures in the area which I am looking at, but don't know about multi-families. there are several dog parks and "the Avenue" (36th) has lots of doggy friendly shops. She got her car broken into once and then recently it was hit and run'ed while it was parked in front of their house but other than that she feels safe and enjoys the neighborhood. They walk the ~6 blocks to the Avenue where there are lots of hipster restaurants etc. I am going to be looking around there in the next couple of weeks to start getting a sense of things- haven't started being a ballsy REI yet, still sniffing around. Good luck with your search!

Le monde est bien petit- nous, on essaie de nous extraire du "développement" après 25 ans pour nous reposer et gagner un peu de fric, y'en a marre.............

Yes, tenting is putting a giant tent over the house and use Vikane. they leave it for 3 days then you can go back in. I have a little information sheet I can send you. It seems to be fairly common in Florida.

Hi Christophe- (former Tana resident myself, now living in Dar es Salaam)-

I own a 1924 house (built by my great-grandfather) in the Tampa area, in a cute little town called Dunedin. It's stucco but with enough wood that the WDO (I had never heard this either...) do come and visit. We just have to pay to get the house tented every ?10 years or so. We pay a yearly fee of $265 to the pest control people and my mom (who manages the property) thinks the tenting is included but I think it will cost a few thousand dollars. We shall see. I agree with previous comments that everything in Florida will get termites, as I understand it but I do think most of these issues can be dealt with by a management  company or person. very best of luck!
