Hi I'm Valerie and I've been reading the posts for a while and have been trying to get my first deal for sometime. One of the recurrent themes in the blogs about finding a mentor seems to be find something you are good at and offer to help. I have been a cost anyalyst for the government for over 20 years and love to analyze the numbers. I have been noticing that one of the hardest thing is getting this number right, and without the numbers it is very difficult to get a successful deal. Would this willingness to do the research and develop the ARVs be of benefit to a mentor and if so how could I use this skill to encourage a mentor to help me. Thanks for any input.

Congratulations any tips for a newbie as to what went right and wrong?

I read the reviews in the forum of realty trac and it seemed people were not impressed with the data. Is this true of all the companies that offer this type of service, is there anyone that is worth the subscription price?

I just checked out zillow.com on my own house and it seems like a really good site. It was very easy to use.

I checked and the REI club that is the closest to me only has about 10-12 members. But the next one is 50 miles away. Is it worth going that far?Will the people involved have anything in common with my area. Also if it is worth the long trip I am actually midway between 2 clubs (one in Arlington, Va and one in Richmond, Va) Should I go to both.
