Post: Can’t seem to get a HELOC on my investment property!?

Hey BP family,

I am pretty new to the RE world. I have one property that I bought, flipped, and now rent. When I flipped it, I close to doubled its value (it was a real dump) and now I have a full time renter, and the house is payed off. I want to repeat this process but am having a hard time getting another loan. I thought I would be able to take a HELOC based on the equity that I built into the home but because it's an investment property, banks will not give me a loan.

I have been to 3 banks in the area and have had the same results at each of them. Before I keep knocking on doors, I figured I would reach out and ask for help here first. Any ideas??

Hello BP community,

I am brand new to the real estate world and am extremely excited to get in and get my feet wet.  From all the reading I've done on BP as well as books and other blogs, it seems like the best way to start investing is by building yourself a strong network of lenders, realtors, investors, etc.  Unfortunately, we are in the midst of a national lock-down and networking events have been placed on hold.  I want to be poised to make a move when this inevitable economic dip happens, so I need to build my team now.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas of the best way to build a network and brand for myself, without actually meeting with people?  Would love to see what you guys think!  Thanks!
