My husband, Dave, and I will be there. It will be our first time to attend this meet-up.

Eddie - we look forward to seeing you at a meeting someday. Dave use to work 2nd shift at Delta so we understand.

Larry - they tell me that you can save a lot on closing costs by being your own realtor. I'm at least looking forward to going and looking at houses without having to coordinate a realtor and also at being able to search the MLS and do CMAs.

Question - is it worth upgrading our membership on BP?

Lance - we used Kaplin for our real estate course which was also online.

Jon - our tenants have not been too bad. We've had a couple of issues but overall nothing terrible. No damage and no vacancies for more than a week in about 2 years.

Paul - Thanks for the book recommendations and the great advice!

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome! The advice recommendations are great and we've committed ourselves to learning as much as we can. So glad to be part of BP.

Hi Everyone - I Velina Davidson and am new. This is my first time on BP although I've listened to a bunch of podcasts. My husband, Dave, and I love the site and it's just what we've been looking for. We are from Keller Texas which is between Dallas and Ft. Worth, more on the Ft. Worth side. We've got two rent houses (that were our houses before we got married) and one living residence. About 3 years ago a lightbulb went off in my head that real estate is the way to go. I realized that I can get renters to pay off my house and that I will have an extra house when I retire if all goes well. Then about 6 months ago a couple friends became realtors and asked my husband and I to join their team. We just passed the test. I never thought I wanted to be a realtor but I can see how it can be a benefit as an investor - so here we are. We have our license but still haven't gotten everything else we need to show or go look houses yet. In the past few months we've started listening to BP podcasts and we realize how much we don't know. It's overwhelming! I had no idea how unprepared we were. I think we are ready to get another house but now that we know better we hope we can go about it a little smarter. But we have to create a plan, make an exit strategy and run the numbers - all things we never did before. Anyway - that's our story. We are hoping to meet others in the area. My husband got in touch with a local meetup so we will go to the next one and start meeting like minded people. Looking forward to it.
