Post: Buying property in the US by Indians

Hi,

I am an Indian working in Abu Dhabi and was recently told about the option of buying a property in the US by an international bank. Given the property prices in India, I might as well invest in the US. Further, on reading up I was told that forming an LLC company in the US and then buying is a good option. I was hoping to buy it directly in my name but I was also told that my global income would become taxable in the US. So I am confused now. Though I have sought help from the bank's tax / legal department (awaiting information), I would like to have more views on doing the right thing. Can anyone help me with a detailed information on the best procedures, pros / cons of the processes. I do not intend to get a green card but just rent the property out. Thanks in advance for your comments.
