@Mark Ainley @Mark F. Thank you for your input! I do understand the exterior problems that can happen as i do purchasing for an exterior company and have to pull permits for work we do in Elgin so i have worked closely with the Elgin Historic Department in the past!  Thank you guys i really value responses like this, it means a lot because your time is valuable!  

However i believe the house is already under contract only after one day, so the search continues! I will probably stay away from Historic districts if possible!

Thank you! It is on the east side, off 25 and Park Street. This is a home im thinking about purchasing and possibly looking at today.

Good Morning Everyone! 

So im looking to purchase my first home, but i also want this said home to be a rental property one day. 

I found a beautiful 1888 home is Elgin, IL Historic district. I have a feeling it is a bad idea to turn this into a rental one day as it will require a very specific tenant. Most likely a small family that is very respectful. 

Im wondering if any one has advice on this?
