Jeff, you have the right idea, particularly with the spend-first, ask questions later, crowd in the Northeast.

My wife and I love Maine, but I don't see it as the kind of job growth hub that it would need to be.

Texas & Oregon don't shock me a great deal. Oklahoma did well enough that it may be a good re-consideration of my strategy (which has never included Oklahoma). Any thoughts Okies?

It's amazing to see my home state of Illinois at the top of the list of places people want to move 'from.'

It's also interesting to see that the pricey part of the Northeast: Connecticut, New York, New Jersey (where I currently reside) is also popular to move from. Clearly I need to be in a better market. What are the general thoughts on the poll?

Matthew -

As a fellow Queens resident, I empathize with your desire to work outside of this (rough) real estate market. My wife and I feel conflicted when it comes to buying far or near. On one hand, almost every market is more friendly (both in prices, and regulation for landlords). On the other hand, all real estate is local, and we do like getting our hands dirty.

Interested to hear about how you got involved in the Atlanta unit, and if there are managers are Turnkey providers you recommend down there.

Best,

Trevor Ewen

Anthony,

Nice to meet you. My wife and I are very interested in the Bronx over the next few years. Would love to talk neighborhoods. We are looking at a few properties in Mott Haven next weekend.

Thanks for the quick response, guys.

Honestly I would avoid it based on what you have, except that with my brother and sister in law there, they will be actively working with the community. It will give us a unique opportunity to have two people we trust immensely in the property.

I will send over the requests. Thanks.

Thanks Kevin, yes. I made that mistake last time I emailed them as well.

Hey All -

In the next year and a half, the brother and sister in law will be moving to Paterson, NJ to run an after school program. Aside from the obvious issues about doing business with family (which we are very aware of). We are curious if anyone knows anything about Patterson. Ideally, they would be the team on the ground (live in the multi family, and rent out the others), and we would provide a bit more of the capital.

My brother and sister-in-law are handy, and they work in the community, so they're in a great position to know the neighborhood, and invest in its future.

How is the market there? Love to speak with landlords, managers, anyone in the area.

Thanks guys. I think my best approach is to remain open so as to get introduced to their network in the area. Even if the friend is a lost cause, if their uncle manages property in the area, that's a good thing to know about.
