Hey, Larry, thanks for the welcome!

For now, we're focusing on the local market and concentrating on the lower buy-in (but quality) opportunities. Down the road, depending on how things go (of course), we may venture out of state.

Hi, My name is Tom and my wife and moved here from Southern California to this area in late 2013 to retire early (we're in our mid 50's). Part of our plan to garner more retirement income was to purchase turnkey SFRs or MFRs for rental purposes. Researching real estate is my wife's hobby / passion, so we are focusing on a number of potential initial projects. Neither one of us is handy, so our goal is to hire a management company to take care of the day to day. While this will eat into our profit, we'd be better off doing that than trying to handle it on our own (and for personal reasons, we don't have time for that level of involvement anyway). As you can guess, we're total newbies when it comes to rental property investments, but we have enough liquid assets to buy one or two low coat properties to begin with, so we're now getting serious about this dream. I found this site after downloading the BigPockets ebook and from what I can see, there's a wealth of information here. I'm here to listen, learn, and share what I discover as we embark on this journey. I look forward to chatting with you!
