Considering whether to build a small rental cabin on my primary property versus purchasing a rental cabin/house. Looking for advantages and disadvantages I may have overlooked. I can build a bit cheaper but with great effort of course. I already have 1 rental on my property and can legally have another. Any experience with this conundrum? Thanks for considering.

@Kevin Rea It’s North Idaho for me - love this area and all of its natural beauty - not to mention we can enjoy the outdoors of Washington state, Montana and British Columbia. The biggest downside I can see is there is a state income tax.
