Aaron, thank you for the warm welcome. To answer your question no I have not decided. I am just getting started and need to do some research first. Not analysis paralysis, just some basic "getting up to speed" assignments. First, I am going to read through the "Ultimate Beginner's Guide" from this site. Then I will read J Scott's book when it arrives tomorrow. Then I will move forward. 

Hi Uriah, my first interest would be to flip. I enjoy the process and have a construction background from many moons ago. But I am very a competent handyman (rebuilt my own kitchen; roofing; decks, etc)  and have saved my own family 10s of thousands over the years by doing the work myself. I believe my first interest would be in purchasing and flipping. Naturally, I wouldn't be doing the work myself in the long term. I foresee getting a solid team together to turn a house around quickly. My only RE background was the one house that I flipped. My sister who was a Real Estate agent brought that house to my attention, but, unfortunately she's in Heaven now. 

Hi all. I am native NYer who moved to NC about 8-1/2 years ago. Just before I moved I purchased one half of a duplex house via an estate sale and flipped it within 30 days.

I live outside of Raleigh, NC. I've been working in the IT field for 15 years. I am eager to get out of IT and start creating an income on my own terms via Real Estate. I know that it will take some time but I am hoping that I can create a successful business in the next 4 years that will allow me to leave my job and fund my daughter's college education as well
