Quote from @Peter Mckernan:

I would reach out to agents doing a lot of work in the area you want to be flipping.. They will have contractors, and should have people you can vet.. Also, property managers are good ones to source as well (PMs that are smaller 50 units, 75 units).. When you get to PM companies that are 100++ units they typically have in house handyman services that do it all so they might not have the connections that you need.

The next move is going to local REI meetups... Also, sourcing agents on this website to connect with them!

Honestly, reaching out to property managers is a great idea, and I’ll go ahead with that.
The problem is that a good contractor is sometimes an asset in itself that can be hard to share.

Hello everyone,
I'm Tomer, an investor focused on property flips in Pittsburgh’s south and east neighborhoods. I'm looking to connect with a reliable, skilled contractor who has solid experience specifically in Fix & Flip projects. Ideally, this would be someone with a strong reputation and a proven track record in full-scale renovations, along with in-depth knowledge of the Pittsburgh market.

If you have any recommendations or advice on contractors who fit this description, I’d love to hear from you! Open to insights from anyone with experience in the area – looking forward to building valuable connections here and achieving great results together.

Thanks in advance to all who can help!
Tomer

Hey BiggerPockets Community!

My name is Tomer, and I'm a real estate investor who is relatively new to the Pittsburgh market. I'm excited to dive into the world of single-family home flips, with a budget of up to $150k per property. I've been researching the area, but I would love to hear from the experts here about where I should focus my attention.

Specifically, I'm looking for advice on:

  1. - Promising Neighborhoods: Which areas in Pittsburgh are currently showing good potential for single-family home flips? I'm looking for neighborhoods with a strong real estate market, good schools, and a sense of community.
  2. - Neighborhoods to Avoid: Are there any areas that I should steer clear of due to high crime rates, low property values, or other red flags?

Some additional context:

  • - I'm interested in neighborhoods that offer a good balance of affordability and potential for appreciation.
  • - I'm particularly keen on areas where there's a high demand for single-family homes.
  • - Any insights on recent market trends or upcoming developments in Pittsburgh would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help! Looking forward to your recommendations and any tips you might have for a newbie in this market.

Cheers,
Tomer
