@Eddie Knoell I was wondering if you’ve made any progress on your search. I live In bIrmIngham, and am looking for properties in the downtown area for the purpose of short-term rentals that I would manage myself. But I was curious how the Airbnb and short-term rental market was doing here. There’s not a lot of data for this area. Do you have any insights?

I live in Birmingham and I am considering buying in Huntsville, AL. It’s about an hour and a half drive from Birmingham, and I was thinking about driving up tomorrow (6/24) to look around and get the lay of the land. I know that’s it’s very much last minute, but if any agent or investor has some free time tomorrow, I’d love to buy you coffee or a drink and talk about different areas of town to invest. Thank you.

@Josh Anderson thanks for the reply and the info! Have you had any trouble getting the HOA by-laws when looking at a property?

I'm curious about the experience investors in the Birmingham, Al area have had with HOAs for condos and townhomes. Has anyone in this area had issues with their HOA allowing rentals? Has anyone had to pay an extra fee to rent out the condo or townhome? I'm also curious if anyone had any luck with short-term rentals. I'm sure all of this varies greatly by property, location, and HOA, but any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.
