Yeah, we are totally open to locations.  Ideally, it's a location that's:

1.  Right off a highway as a quick access point

2.  Has easy parking

3.  Has a menu with broad appeal

4.  Has enough space for a decent sized group.

I like The Lowry, in Minneapolis, for example ... except larger groups wouldn't work there. So here's some spots I think fit the criteria, which are more centrally located:

Green Mill, at 26th and Hennepin

The Crooked Pint at 501 Washington Ave S (kind of by the Vikings Stadium)

Buffalo Wild Wings on Snelling & Ashland

Honestly ... I'm having a tough time thinking of many more that fit the criteria, and I know the cities.

Any thoughts on those or other suggestions?  We're totally open, but we don't want to fall into the trap of being perpetually getting ready to get ready.

Thanks a bunch for the feedback so far. Keep it coming!

Hey BP,

I'm looking to start a Bigger Pockets Meetup group, and I'm looking for input from people who are currently in one.

- How is it run?

- Is there an agenda?

- How often do you meet?

- What kind of locations / times do you meet at?

- Any general tips for making it a success?

I so appreciate it!

- Tim

p.s. I'm in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis / St. Paul), so that is where we're looking to get a group going ... if you know anyone who'd be interested ;^)

Hey Bryan K,

As a full time real estate agent, I have dabbled in property management ... but I find that I am WAY too nice ... and it eats up time I need to devote to my real estate sales business.

Totally wild that you mentioned John Stiles, by the way - I've already been in touch with him!  He seems fantastic.  However, my investor partner wants to have more than one property manager, because he doesn't like having all of our eggs in one basket (especially after we tried having them all with one gal, and she flaked out ... ).

Personally, I like the idea of just one ... so hopefully someone on this list - maybe John, who is going to start managing at least one of our properties - will impress enough to get the whole lot of them.

Thanks for all the info!

- Tim

Hey all,

My property manager informed me that she's resigning - effective November 1st.  Yikes!

I have 10 units in the Twin Cities that will need management.  We have a combination of duplexes, townhomes, and a condo - scattered around the Twin Cities metro area.

     Any recommendations?

Thanks a million!

- Tim

Thanks for the continued warm welcomes, everyone.  Nice to see you aboard, @Sean S.  I look forward to seeing you out in the Twin Cities trenches!

And hey, @Joe Fairless, I took a look at your blog - looks like you do some interesting things. I'll probably be reaching out to you for guidance at some point.

Go BP!

Hey BiggerPockets,

I'm new to the site, and I get the sense that dropping an intro like this is the way to get started off right.

I've sort of been a real estate investor since my first home in 2004 - when I rented out two of the three bedrooms to friends. I loved the home buying process so much, I became a Realtor and bought my current home in 2006 as my own first client ... but kept the original home and still rent it out. I concentrated mainly on real estate sales until last year, when I started getting more serious about adding some REI into the mix.

In 2013, I partnered with one of my clients, and we've been putting together a portfolio of rental properties - duplexes, town homes, and a condo so far - all owned by our LLC (soon to be many LLCs).

Ideally, with BP, I'd like to learn, network, and hopefully contribute something worthwhile to the community.

I'd love to learn more about owner financing, apartment investing, marketing for deals, and investing in notes.  I'm even curious about flipping, although I have yet to give it a try.

As far as who I am? I live in South Minneapolis with my wife, 8-month-old son, and our little dog. I like '70s and '80s pop culture, mid-century design, and watching pretty much any sport.

I look forward to doing what I can to bring something of value to the site.
