Hi @Phil Shelton

They believe it is okay at this point especially if "sorry" is not said with action to rectify the situation. The best option is to sit and talk about the situation.

Hi @devinjames,

Congratulations to you and your family. Those connections are true but worth it in many ways.

Hi @Brett Jurgens,

I agree with your points, the natural response is home ownership in the Midwest. The awareness of information like this can play out for both sides of the spectrum. It will either guide many to check the stats for themselves or to accept the overarching idea. It can also promote mitigation planning as well encouraging back up resources in case of the unexpected.

Hi @Erich Oertel,

Definitely is based on what your plans are and whether it is land or for purchasing property. The Midwest seem to be a popular choice in the chat along some areas of Texas are also good to consider for example, Austin or Dallas-Fort Worth. Good luck with your planning.

Hi @JesseLeBlanc,
Inflating a payoff in the context you described can indeed constitute mortgage fraud under Georgia law. Both have potential of being charged no differently than the other.

Georgia Code - Title 16, Chapter 8 - Theft

O.C.G.A 16-9-93

Georgia Mortgage Fraud Task Force

Above are a few resources I looked up to help define the scenario. Defined under the O.C.G.A 16-8-102, Mortgage Fraud is defined as knowingly makes any deliberate misstatement, misrepresentation, or omission during the mortgage lending process with the intention that it be relied on by a mortgage lending process. More details can be found on Justia US LAW.com

Consider reaching out to someone who specializes in real estate or fraud cases.

Hi @Darrell Kirby, try to reach out to local housing authority that works with section 8 in your area. The list may be on Michigan state Housing Development Authority website. Give them a call as well and see if you could be routed to the right place.

Hope all goes well!

Hi @Dennis O'Loughlin, sorry that you had this experience. It can be difficult when situations like these have to introduce new protocols. The cameras are not a bad idea especially because the trust has been shaken with the tenants. I would suggest a sit down talk about this to give the others in the unit a heads up of the coming changes. Enforce this in the new leases. Also, remind them this is coming from a safety measure for everyone wellbeing due to the climate of crime near our homes.

Post: Should I buy in NYC or Florida?

Hey @Priscilla Chin, its okay to be indecisive with tough options like these. Considering you are aware of the significant price difference, I'd say consider the Landlord-Tenant Laws in NYC. Tenants wont be hard to find like you mentioned but mindfulness on the protection laws in the process will be important. Keep an eye on the trends in FL at this moment as well, especially in hurricane season, with home insurance. Hope this helps and feel free to reach out if you need more insight on this or anything else.
