Thanks, you're right. Do you know of any online communities like BiggerPockets where the main focus is Canadian real estate and real estate laws/practices etc. ?

I am from Canada and am interested in investing here in Canada. I'm wondering if this site will be helpful or if its mostly geared towards the US markets.

@Mehran K.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I will look into your Canadian contact as well. The more I look around, I wonder if I'm a bit too new to bother someone with questions at this time. I've ordered some good reads and will hang out here, then maybe stick my neck out a bit later with some questions. Thanks for your help!

@Paul Timmins

Wow, Paul, thanks for all the info. I'll look it all over and will also look for some REIA meetings in my area as well. I'm not sure if flipping or fix and hold is my thing, as I'll likely be doing all this on my own and construction isn't one of my strong assets. I like the idea of student housing though and if you have any information on it, I'd love the help. I'm curious though, I would have thought that student housing would be the opposite! Why is it so lucrative?

@J. Martin

Thanks for the advice, I'll spend some time navigating around the site. There's so much to learn at this time, that I'm not even sure where to begin, but thanks for the help. :)

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the site and already made my first mistake by asking for a mentor… oops…..I just want to introduce myself. I am 48 years old, financially secure but without any experience in the real estate investing world. I am just starting out trying to educate myself and am interested in mostly Rent to Own properties now. I am not sure where to start, where to find properties, where to find buyer tenants, etc. I'm looking forward to meeting people here and am excited to learn the ropes. Cheers!
