@Jorge Lopez:
Wellington is definitely pretty expensive compared to many of the surrounding areas. I managed to come across a couple of triplexes around the 400k range, but that's about it.

Thanks for the lead, although the amount of rehab scares me a bit, being it will be my first deal/home purchase! Buy yes, that is the type of property i am looking for. How did you go about finding it may i ask? Drive by, or online?

Hey everyone!

So i want my first home purchase to be a duplex or triplex as a way to kick start my investment career as well. However, I've been searching around on Zillow just to get some comps and ideas, yet any duplex or triplex i find has just one of the units being sold as a condo. It seems like everything in West Palm Beach has been split up into condos. Is this normal or is it just this area perhaps? Or are properties that i'm looking for like this typically not listed on something such as Zillow? Thanks in advance!

@Tyrone Watler, If you do find a meeting to go to, let me know how it goes!

I too am very new and I am considering going to a local REIA meeting (once i can find one that doesn't conflict with my schedule).

Thank you @John Thedford , @Dan DeMott , @Elizabeth Colegrove

I will definitely look into getting involved with my local REIA meetings, but at the moment my schedule is sort of hectic with work in the AM and school in the PM.

I have already looked at the Ultimate Beginners Guide and loved it, I'm sure ill be glancing through it again through out these beginner stages. I also listen to the podcast avidly while working and anytime I'm in the car.

Ill definitely spend time reading through the Wholesaling forum threads the most for right now, as like i said, i want that to be my entry strategy into the industry.

Thank you again for all of your posts!

Hey everyone!

My name is Chris and I'm 24 years old, born and raised in South Florida. I'm currently finishing up a bachelors degree and own and operate a small business with my father.

I have always been interested in real estate but always thought I'd never be able to do it. I'm trying to change that and filling my brain with as much knowledge as i can. I lack cash at the moment so I think wholesaling would be a good route to take initially. Once i have adequate cash and enough experience i want to purchase units to rent out.

If anyone else is from the West Palm Beach area let me know! I'd love to hear about your current projects and how the market is in this county.
