Being able to network with people and hear from "experts" will help you gain a priceless education. Get up at the meeting during the "Say it in 60" and announce that you are looking to help someone out if they in turn will mentor you. That goes a long way. We try to work for WIN-WIN situations for everyone.

Someone posted recently on Bigger Pockets about all the books mentioned on the recent podcasts. Do a search for that for reading ideas.

Follow up question to this:
I have been told that since my parents don't live in the same state that I do, that I am going to have issues with the SEC, federal and in both of our states. Can anyone address this?

My parents are interested in lending me money for real estate investing. I do buy and hold rentals. I have never borrowed money yet so have no idea what we would write up, interest rate, length of loan, etc. Can someone who has actually done this before give me some input?
