Post: Heloc or Home equity loan?

Hi everyone!

I'd like to invest in a second home for a rental.  I'm not sure if I want to do long term rental or short term rental yet.  But, I would like to pull the equity out of my current primary home in order to achieve this.  I'm finding a lot of Heloc's that are not fixed apr and/or require a lump some to be pulled out upon approval.  I'm not at that point yet as I want to see how the market is going to be in the next six months (are we going in to a recession and if so are home prices going to retract?)   Any recommendations on lenders that offer fixed apr?  Any suggestions?

Thanks Bruce!  That was what I thought too.   I was just wondering if there was a legal way that I did not know of to be able to do it.

I've been researching lately in investing in for short term rental.  How are people able to do this in larger cites that have restrictions such as only being able to rent out for 90 days? Are they buying with a commercial loan with and setting up like a business? When looking on Airbnb  in my local city I can clearly see that people are renting out all year long for longer than that.

I'm considering using them for private money and just wondering if anyone here has used them and if the outcome was good.

I'm already pre-approved for a 203k loan and I'm looking at houses to do a flip, but the houses I'm finding the numbers just don't work.  Or if the numbers do work, they want cash only.  Just so frustrated right now.

The last one was at the Whitney Oaks Golf Course in Rocklin at 6:30pm  You can also follow them on the closed group on Facebook under "Roseville Real Estate Investing".    I do not think they will be holding a meeting in July because it is too close to Independence Day holiday.

Hi there Jorge! The next REI meet up is the Sacramento one at the Crown Plaza hotel on Date street. It is this Wednesday, June 10th at 5:30pm. The Roseville REI is usually the first Tuesday of the month.

I need to find the owner to a vacant house.  All I have is the owners names from the property tax info (no forwarding address for the bill).  What skip tracers are fast and good?

Thank you all for responding and helping me out with this.    I called the county tax assessors office today and they have the same address as the vacant house as to where the bills are going.  I called the county recorder, and same thing.   So if the mail box at the house says vacant, I wonder if he has mail forwarding?
