I'd make sure that you really understand Logan's answer - especially the second to last paragraph - and you'll see that it's the definition of "make your money work for you".  Rich dad Poor dad would highly approve.

Depending on the walls and the finishings you're using, maybe you could do a faux venetian plaster paint on the walls that are too much hassle to drywall.  Ralph Lauren paint at Home Depot.  Add value again with an inexpensive chandelier.  Or if it's really cement like, you could do an exposed brick look and really up your rent (go with ultra modern accessories for that loft look).  Google them and see if either would work for you.
