Thanks, @Russell Brazil! That's what my third question is about. When I say "3% is market?" I mean "3% is a common rate accepted by the market?"

Hello! Interested in doing my first deal and acting as my own agent. I am a Texas-licensed attorney and have been advised that I can write my own offer AND receive a 3% commission from the seller as my own real estate agent. Anyone have any experience with this that they would like to share? I haven't researched this issue fully but thought discussing it here might be the most effective tool.

1. Legal?

2. Will this anger the seller's agent?

3. 3% is market?

4. Special considerations? I was told that I cannot use the 3% for the closing costs on paper (I can, of course, reimburse myself).

Thank you in advance!
