I’m a reservist In the army and plan on buying a duplex to live in and rent the other unit out when I get home. I know this is broad but what do I need to know and what to expect. I have general knowledge on house hacking but I just want to see your responses and hands on knowledge.

Thanks.

@Matt Brown

I’m actually a reservist on deployment right now. Using this time over seas to save as much as I can. I’ll just be buying property in my home town.

@Matthew Paul thank you.

I'm 21 years old and plan on using a VA loan to purchase my first home. I'm looking at buying a duplex and living in one unit and renting out the other. I hear this is a great way to start out and really save on some money. I plan on doing this until I can purchase a single family home for just me and rent both units out on the duplex.

Any advice or input would be very appreciative.

I plan on moving into a duplex and renting the other side out. When owning a duplex is there anything you can do to help cancel sound between the two units?
