If a property is in bankruptcy, does that mean the owner will have to give up the house? There is a house we have our eye on that shows the owners have filed bankruptcy, how to we pursue this property?

@Chaz Reid Sounds like you are off and running. Go for it. Be sure to check for liens on the properties. And I agree with Shequann - go down to the county and ask them to pull the records on those specific properties. All after you have tied the properties up.

Also, what is your exit strategy if all looks like it appears? Flip? Hold and rent?

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks to all who replied. I will see about working one of these REIA meetings into my schedule. Both conflict with my work schedule at the moment, but there may be some opportunities to make a few here and there until I can shift things around.

Looking forward to being a part of BiggerPockets! Thanks again!

Hello, my name is Summer. I began to dabble in RE investing 10 years ago when I took my first live-in SFH here in Austin and turned in into a rental. Unfortunately, my husband and I experienced some hard times and we had to sell the SFH to get by. However, we both agree it was a great experience and we are ready to give it another go.

My husband currently has a family law practice here in Austin. I currently work with him in his practice on a part-time basis. We are raising two fun, loving boys.

Our investing goals are to start with flipping and then to become landlords of MFH. Thankfully, I stumbled upon BiggerPockets online while researching other RE investing groups.

I am looking forward to learning here and getting to know other investors.
