@Alexander Bustos I am planning on coming to the BP meetup here soon. I am already part of the Facebook group so I get all the updates. I may not be able to make it though because I am in the process of looking for a house and may be out!

I came across Scott Scheel's Commercial Property Academy and his apartment investing course looked interesting.

I saw that awhile ago a few members have used some of his books and they said they weren't bad. I was wondering if anybody had used anything of his recently or had any success with his information. Even more specifically, if anybody has used his apartment investing course, I would love to hear feedback from that!

Thanks!

Dan N.
Thanks for the info Dan. I have been mulling around in mind whether to join or not. I have heard and read good and bad things. I am leaning toward it thinking it would be a great place to have a lot of knowledge concentrated in a smal group in a set location. I think the biggest draw for me would be being able to call up and ask questions whenever.

I went the route of working for a commercial real estate development company as an analyst for them. I just got out of college and decided I wanted to learn and get into the real estate business. I analyze financials for their development deals and help put equity and debt packages together.

I don't know what your educational background is or what all development companies look for, but I can tell you that for the company I work for a real estate analyst (or asset management analyst, or development analyst) needs to have a degree in some kind of business capacity; whether it real estate, finance, economics (my degree), or general business. Also, as an analyst, a strong aptitude for numbers is a must and proficient to advanced skills in Excel modeling.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Hello all,

I am located here in Dallas, Texas and attended a free introductory seminar from Lifestyles Unlimited REIA last night. I enjoyed listening to what they had to say and the speaker was very informative.

I was thinking about joining, but I wanted to ask and see if anybody else had any experiences with them (both good or bad). They seem to have a ton of resources available to their members and I was curious if anyone could speak to the quality of their information. It seems like a solid network, but just wanted to hear if others have given them a try.

Thanks!

Carlos F. Yep I was at the last BP meetup at the restaurant on Greenville Ave. I got to meet a few of the local guys so that was pretty cool.

Patrick Jackson Thanks Patrick! I'm definitely looking forward to gaining knowledge and picking people's brains!

Dan Shoemaker Thanks Dan! I have been looking into a few REI groups and I did come across Lifestyles Unlimited. I have listened to a few of their podcasts. It's good to hear from someone that they are a solid group. I know there are a number of REI clubs here in Dallas and I don't want to waste my time at the ones that just pitch products or hype.

I'll definitely check out The Roddy Roundup!
