You should probably see how other student-rentals in your area are handled as a comparison. Our daughter has lived off campus in a privately managed apartment complex that seems to rent exclusively to students. The leases run Aug 20th - July 31st (this is in Kent, Ohio). 

I have been investing in Westerville and north east Columbus for past 6 years. Became a licenced agent a year ago so i could help other investors and continue to grow and expand personal portfolio.

Looking at investment props (sfh) in S Ontario...I am US citizen, born and raised in Canada.

Looking for anyone with experience and has insight on tax implications in Canada and US for this type of investment.

I live in Ohio. I have an opportunity to invest in a single family home with Canadian family members in  Waterloo, Ontario.  The home and all related expenses/profits would be divided equally between the 4 of us (siblings). Does anyone have any advice about this since I live in the U.S. and this would be the first time I'm investing in Canada.  Pitfalls? Advice? Things to consider? Thanks for any input.

We own a single family home in a residential neighborhood that we rent to a nice family. They have been there almost 3 years. The house next door is also a rental and that tenants plays his music very loud at times which greatly disturbs my tenants. I was able to get the phone number of the person that owns that rental and talked to him. He seemed concerned but now it's year later and this problem is still going on. I've talked to the police, but they can only do something if they catch them "in the act" so to speak.  This is mainly a summer-time problem. Our tenants have talked directly to this tenant but nothing has been solved. Any suggestions?
