Hello everyone.
My name is Steven Moutray and my wife is Renee Smith. I have spent over 30 years in residential remodeling. I have enjoyed all the remodeling work I have done over the years. Remodeling is a part of who I am. Most of that time was in Rochester NY. For the last 4 years in AZ, I have been a home inspector. Home inspections was a next step for me as I get older and my body is starting to get tired. But I still dabble in handyman work and some remodeling as I find it hard to put away my belt and still enjoy the work.
I have always wanted to own rental properties and do some flip projects but just never started the path. My wife has been a real estate agent for 10 years. Between the two of us, we are pretty involved in real estate. We are both self employed so retirement is something we have both started thinking about. So that leads me to why I'm here. The wife and I are starting a real estate investing business. While I am very knowledgeable about home construction and she is very knowledgeable about real estate sales, neither of us are knowledgeable about the investing side. I came across Bigger Pockets and read some articles, and listened to some pod casts. I met a guy on a home inspection that has been doing what I want to do and uses Bigger Pockets tools himself. We just hit it off with all our similarities. When you meet someone doing what you want to do and is very encouraging about the possibilities, it really makes you think and ask yourself, "what are you waiting for?". So we are committed to starting this journey.
We are looking at single family, and/or small multi family homes in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin areas. We will be moving to the area late spring. The strategies we are interested in are Flipping, BRRRR, and possibly House Hacking. We are interested in Hard Money and Private Lender financing.
We would love to network and talk with other Flip Investors, BRRRR Investors, and Lenders in the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin area and all real estate investors as well.
