Thank you all for your great feedback!  Honestly, I am just trying to make a move this year and finally purchase something.  I have been hesitant all my life, and i feel like i need to make a change in the positive direction.

These first steps have me on shaky legs, I'm just trying to navigate and find a good path.

Thanks

@Brett Synicky, thanks for the info. I miss spoke, i dont have a 401K, I had it transferred from a previous employer to an IRA at Chase.

I only have one revenue stream currently.  Just trying to plan for the future and make changes this year.  I see rent going up every year and soon I won't be able to afford rent in a decent area.

I'm trying to put money into something i can own and have it generate some passive income.  Maybe purchase more in the future.  Just a little late to the game.

Hi, first post.  I am currently employed and make about $90k.  I currently do not own a home.  My wife and I currently rent a home that is owned by my in-laws.  We have 2 kids, one has moved out and the other is away in college.  I don't have any debt other than my daughter's school loans.  I have about $200k in my 401k and would like to use that in buying a rental property.  My goal is to create some passive income so that i can better prepare for the future.  Is this a bad move, pulling from my 401k?
