@Matthew Weber - I was looking into Willowbrook/Westerleigh/Manor Heights. - Is there a healthy rental market for both Houses and Apts.? - I believe the market is changing there and therefore think you have to be up to date to know the answer to that question.

@John Casmon - Thanks for your input - I'm looking for a house at the moment. - Just trying to "learn" the neighborhood first.

Thanks @Roxanna Pifer for your input. That's definitely a helpful tip. The approach makes sense - I wonder if it could be tweaked in a way to make it more efficient.... Most appreciated.

Any other suggestions?.....

Thanks @Travis Hughes

I'm very familiar with the neighborhood in question. - My question is more specific - The neighborhood is primarily houses - many are lived in by the owners - is there a demand for renting as well. - I have reason to believe the demand for renting has gone up - how do I confirm that. I have seen many sites which list the houses which were sold. - I have not found sites confirming rental closings.

Hey all!!

I was trying to look into a particular neighborhood - Willowbrook/Westerleigh Staten Island NY and ran into trouble evaluating the renters market. - If I want to buy and hold there needs to be a healthy rental demand. - In the past in other neighborhoods I was shown really good deals by brokers and others but I had to find out through word of mouth that there was a glut of rentals and many remained empty. Only after I confronted the broker did she admit it was true.

What is the best way to work out the rental market there or elsewhere.

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to get started with flips in my hometown, Staten Island. - Anyone out there involved in Staten Island real estate?

Thanks.

Thanks to all your replies so far, especially @Danielle Ruffin for sharing your experiences. I do come back to Staten Island,NY from time to time - that is my hometown. Trusting someone is my biggest obstacle. - I need to feel more confident that I know what I'm looking for.

I'm sure there are tons of people who have successfully invested from overseas - SO KEEP THE REPLIES COMING SO WE CAN ALL LEARN MORE FROM YOUR SUCCESSES (and mistakes - gotta learn from the mistakes too).

My challenge is to really know what I'm looking for. -

Hi,

A neighborhood I'm familiar with seems to be changing and expanding it's borders which I believe will raise the prices in the surrounding parts. - How do I identify what the new borders may be so I can find properties farther out at lower prices but not too far out. - Any tips?

Thanks.

Hi,

Has anyone invested with this property group (AJ&C Garfunkel, Savanah, Georgia). I was offered to invest with them and am looking to find out from previous investors their opinion.

I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.
