That is the most likely route. I already have a couple realtors sending me leads for single and multifamily houses, however I was considering doing the same with commercial brokers and trying to connect them/their deals with other investors and companies looking to buy. I am looking to be an asset to the people I’m networking with. In the fall, I met with the owner of a commercial real estate firm here in Columbus, Ohio. I would like to continue to develop that relationship and remember him mentioning to let him know about any deals I find. I figure getting a saved search set up with a few commercial brokers would make finding larger scale commercial deals that I could present to him easier, allowing me to provide more value to the relationship. I wanted to check here first to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong and then see how I can negotiate a finder’s fee potentially too.
Would it be unethical to birddog using a commercial broker’s saved searches on the MLS to find deals and take them to a commercial real estate investor/business?
