Hey everyone,

I have a friend that put his former primary residence as a SFR rental property on 1 Sept 2015. Effectively, this gave him four months of rental income on the property for the year. How long does the home need to serve as a rental to depreciate the full, straight-line depreciation expense (purchase price - cost of land / 27.5 years)? Thanks in advance,

AW

Post: Insurance covering tenant damages

Hey guys,

I have a friend who's getting moved by his job and is putting his home on the rental market.  His insurance company is trying to sell him insurance to cover tenant damages that is nearly as expensive, if not more expensive than his normal homeowner policy.  I have a 3/2 that I only a Fire and Tornado policy on.  I told him I check on BP for some backup, but that I thought the insurance company was trying to rip him off.  Does anyone have any thoughts?  Thanks in advance, AWebb

Please forgive my poor punctuation.  It should have read, "Is there anyway to update my account without upgrading to Pro?" :)

Hello all!

My name is Aaron Webb and I am an officer in the US Air Force.  I've just moved from Monterey, CA and I will be moving again to Columbus, GA in about six months.  I would really like to take advantage of all the great content at BP, but I cannot update my zip code to the Monterey area.  It is because I just opened my account when I lived in Abilene, Texas a few weeks ago.  Is there anyway to update my account without upgrading to Pro.  It's not that I have anything against the services covered in the Pro membership, I'm just not at a level where I could justify the cost.  Any advice?  Thanks!!
