I am a consultant for a CRE company in NYC. I am fairly new to the real estate industry. I do not do sales or brokerage so I was wondering if it is a good idea to pursue a real estate license for NY. If so, which license would be the one to get?

Adding to my last post, I guess in terms of what big companies like I stated above, (JLL, CBRE, Newmark, etc), do they use a mixture of these applications of software apart from going back to past experience and deals? It would be great to know which ones they use.

Derek, Thanks for the info.

Do you have any recommendations for which of these types of software is the most useful in regards to reliability and service as a company?

Best,

Hyun

Thanks for the info Joel.

To get more into depth, What specific sources do these research analysts use to get retrieve this information?(Like types of software, specific newpapers, websites, organizations)

And do you have any specific examples or recommendations of those commercial data companies, like companies that are famous for providing spot on data?

Finally, after the research analysts find out this information, how do the companies like JLL and CBRE analyze this information to provide to clients for negotiation and still be somewhat informed of what their competitors are doing for benchmarks?

Many thanks for your replies Joel.

Hyun

How do commercial real estate companies (JLL and CBRE, etc) find and use their benchmark data to share to their clients while doing pitches or data sharing during projects? Is there some kind of specific software or sources that they use to figure out things like cost per square foot, usable square foot/person, assessing the current state of the market or assessing their competitors?? Would like answers focused on NY market if possible! Thanks guys!

Hey guys,

Thank you for your warm welcomes!

My firm specializes in helping companies optimize their real estate portfolio whether its by location, office space efficiency, incentives, technology, labor adjustments to save costs for a fee. You could say brokers show companies spaces where they can move into work, while we recommend which ones to go in by brainstorming which will be the best fit. Clients come to us when they are trying to expand or consolidate, or perform M&As to efficiently execute multiple scenarios of workplace strategy.

@Brandon Turner The beginner's guide was actually the book that introduced me to the site, as it made countless references to Bigger Pockets, by the time I finished the guide I could not resist myself from applying!! I hope to learn a lot from the community.

Cheers,

Albert

Hello my name is Albert Son. I just joined the BP community and would like to know about real estate in general but preferably commercial real estate in New York because I just joined real estate consulting firm from the public sector. My aspirations are to be an expert on commercial real estate globally especially in the US and Asian markets. Look forward to speaking with all of you!
