Typically the spouse will be considered an insured. If they were not already on the policy they would then be added after the fact or they would have to re-write the policy in their name. Typically whoever is the executor will have coverage extended to them until the end of the policy term.

You can get a Dwelling fire policy for up to 4 units. 5+ you are now needing a commercial policy. Without getting too many more details that is probably one of the reasons why. Also like a posted above mentioned, liability limits. Commercial will usually have higher limits. Not saying you couldn't get 1 million on a personal but commercial it typically is standard to have them higher.

I would contact an agent in big bear as i am sure they come across this often. I currently work for Allstate in CA and we have limited options for what we can offer.

We typically write through a non admitted carrier called Northlight Specialty. I am not too familair with their Short Term rental policy as all of our customers that we have with them use their houses as secondary residences. The only company that i know we write STR with is another company called American Modern, but not too sure if they write in Big Bear.

I am thinking of getting my notary license to begin a Mobile Notary side gig. The goal would be to earn some extra side cash to save and to network with other real estate professionals. The thing is i would like to see if there is an actual need among the real estate community. I would like to provide value to others but ive been reading some information that certain lenders/escrow companies are starting to require people to use their own, in-house notary.

Can anyone verify if this has been your experience?

Based on your personal experience in REI have you used a mobile notary?

Any input on this is greatly appreciated. The course and materials to get license is going to run me about $4-500 and about 12 hours of study and testing. I have no issues with the cost or time but i want to make sure that i will recoup my investment. I am currently working as a Licensed Insurance Agent in SoCal.  I know that notary's are used for a variety of different reasons but one of my goals by getting this is to focus on meeting other real estate professionals.

Might be due to the fact it was a group policy. They want a traditional policy with you as the primary insured. Looks like you might've gotten your problem solved tho. Goodluck!

Only way to get an actual estimate of these figures is to call an agent and get a quote. Either call one that can quote with multiple carriers or call two different agents. I would get two just for comparison sake.

I am about to sign up to become a notary in CA. Have been wanting to do it for a while now but have just kept putting it off. I am also looking to do it as a side hustle to increase my savings. I also plan to network like crazy and soak up as much knowledge as possible when working with loan closings etc.

If you end up going with the class and wanna chat feel free to PM me.

Just making sure i understood correctly. You have no loss of use coverage from your landlord policy since it was vacant at the time of loss?

Do not think you have any option here at this point.

Sorry for the loss incurred.
