thanks creek,
I have been checking the sites out in MT for awhile now. I have a close buddy that just went out there (Kalispell) last wkend. He doesn`t have much experience in the trades but he`s told me every time I`ve spoke to him that he sure wishes he did. He says there`s building going on EVERYWHERE! I have spoken to a couple builders from out there and they have told me the same. Load my truck and drive out. there`s plenty of work. If nothing comes up here in MI SOON, I may have to do that. Rite now I don`t even have the money to drive out there tho. I can`t seem to catch a break here in MI. I have been giving out a few bids lately. All small little stuff.1 day jobs. everyone wants it done for free.I can only go so low on my price and not take a loss. I keep telling myself that today someone will call me to come to a job. I have been to all local real estate offices, gave them my card and told them what I can do. I have tried everything I can think of to get my name out there. Nothing seems to be working. especially ME.
OK sorry for rambling. enough said.

Maybe I`ll see you in MT creek
Nick

I am over by Grand Rapids. Probably 2- 21/2 hrs west of Saginaw. I would travel to the moon if the money was right. There are some pics of my work on my website. www.affordabledecksandmore.com. yes I have referances. You want past customers, past employers, other contractors I have subbed for.
what you thinking chad_bucy? Saginaw is a long ways from Colorado.

hi, 2 weeks MI will be at the peak of our salmon run. I love this time of the year. 15 to 20 lb fish all day long.

Anyways what am I looking for in Real Estate? if thats what your asking my answer is i`m not sure. I would love to be able to buy houses and fix and sell but unfortunately my finances don`t allow that. I have a longstanding love affair with carpentry. Actually in my blood. My dad has letters from a long ago realitive that came to this country as a ships carpenter. So, I really would just like to be able to make a living working for/with people fixing houses. Establish a relationship with enough realtors, investors and such to become their "go to guy" when they need remodeling done.
Also I am a bad salesman. Much better at doing the work than selling it.
thanks for asking tho. Gives me something to think about.
Nick

what type of wood is the trim? pine, oak, popular, maple, old tiger maple? is it stained now or painted. You mite be farther ahead to just buy some paint grade trim and tear the old off and put new up. how much time you have to be sanding and cutting in paint? how messed up is the trim? will it take a little sanding or alot?is it just window and door casing? or chair rail and baseboards? remember time is money.

Hello Wesley,
Thanks for the tip. I definately want to keep a close eye on this as I DO NOT want to miss an opportunity to get some work. Yes Michigan SUCKS rite now. I love this state, swore I`d never leave. But I got a family and bills to pay. Can`t do it here anymore.
I am seriously considering a move to Kalispell, Montana around the first of the year. Got a couple friends there and they say all kinds work out there. Anybody here have anything to say about that area? Anything good or bad? I want to hear it.
thanks
Nick

hi everyone, my name is Nick. I am a licensed contractor in Michigan. I found this site searching the web looking for places to contact people about getting some work.I have been a carpenter for about 15 yrs.. I got my license in the spring of 2005. Being I have only been in business for a little over a year and the way Michigan`s economy is rite now I havent had much work. I NEED WORK! I can do most anything inside or outside a house except electrical, plumbing and flooring. from siding and windows to drywall and trim, and about anything in between. I don`t want this to sound like an add but I am a better carpenter than a salesman.
I will be back to this site often as I like what I`ve seen already. So if anyone is looking for someone to help on a house contact me. Or just ask me how to do something I mite be able to help.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
